HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELPLINE

That’s the Harbour Helpline been in service for 52 weeks! Our first year has been a roaring success with over 150 people, including family member accessing support, resources and advice to help them through challenging times. Some of them are now attending Harbour and other recovery groups and thriving in their recovery journeys. Thank you to all the volunteers that have manned the helpline and provided their time, commitment, dedicating and experience to allow us to provide this marvellous support. ANDREW JOINS THE TEAM

We are really excited to announce that Andrew Downie will be joining our Harbour Ayrshire Crew as our new “Funding Officer”. Andrew has been working with Harbour Ayrshire on a part time basis and has been an incredible asset to our organisation in his assistance with gaining funds which enable us to be able to carry out the fantastic work we do throughout Ayrshire and we are over the moon to have him with us full time, moving forward. Huge thanks to our funders Static World for funding this valuable role.

VARI JOINS THE TEAM

We are really excited to announce that Vari Mcfadzean will be joining our Harbour Ayrshire Crew as our new “Digital Inclusion Officer”. Vari has been facilitating our EmpowerHer Womens Group in South Ayrshire for the past year and is an amazing example to the volunteers and women she supports!! We are delighted that she will now be a permanent fixture in our team full time. We would like to this opportunity to thank all applicants and interviewees who put themselves forward for the role. Huge thanks to our funders SCVO digital lifelines for funding this valuable role.

GREAT START TO NEW BEGINNINGS!

What a great start to our New Beginnings South Family Group last night with a total of 16 attendees proving the concept that there is a requirement for an “out of hours” family group in South Ayrshire Thank you to the lovely Amanda for sharing her experience and opening our first family group in South Ayrshire. If anyone is struggling with a loved one in addiction then please feel free to come along to give and receive support. Thank you to our volunteers Renee, Steph and Davey who do an incredible job of supporting our attendees.

 

CHATTING ABOUT ADDICTION AT SL33

Our volunteers Vari, Gary and Neil were delighted to be invited to SL33 in Kilmarnock today to chat to the young people about addiction and the services that our Charity offers throughout Ayrshire. Well done team.

ROBERT LEADS THE WAY

We would like to congratulate our colleague Robert on recently passing his “Rights In Recovery Leadership Programme” with the Scottish Recovery Consortium. Robert will now spend the next few weeks rolling this programme out throughout each of our Harbour Ayrshire Peer Groups, giving our volunteers and attendees vital knowledge and information on the MAT Standards and their rights in recovery. 

RAB CELEBRATES THREE YEARS

We would like to congratulate our much loved volunteer “Rab” on recently celebrating 3 whole years of continuous sobriety. Rab facilitates our MOT Girvan Mens Group every Monday night and is an incredible example to the guys who attend.

VARI DOING VERY WELL

Big shout out to our Group Faciltator at EmpowerHer Vari Mcfadzean, who yesterday celebrated a huge milestone in her recovery journey by reaching 18 months continuous abstinence. What an inspirational, powerful and compassionate women. Well done oor Vari. Here’s to many, many more.
