MSP Visits Harbour

Our Harbour Staff were delighted this morning to have a visit from our Minister for Drugs and Alcohol Policy of Scotland – Elena Whitham Elena Whitham MSP

We shared with Elena, the successful work all staff and volunteers have participated in over the last 18 months throughout Ayrshire and our vision and goals for the future for Harbour Ayrshire

Thank you Elena for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit us and for your continued support with our organisation.

Harbour Receives Generous Christmas Present

Harbour Ayrshire picked up the cheque from Mark & Ian from North Ayrshire Staff Association this morning and heard all the great work they do throughout the year to raise funds for charities like ours. Thank you so much for your very kind donation of £1800. This will go to support our most disadvantaged members of the community to help them through these very challenging times.

Super Stef gives Naloxone Training

Our Naloxone Officer, Stef, has been travelling the length and breadth of Ayrshire giving vital Naloxone Training to our peer group volunteers and attendees.

Shehas officially trained 98 individuals on how to administer this life-saving product and has given out 98 Naloxone kits. Stef has one more group to attend, our new peer group MOT Kilbirnie, and following this she will have trained over 100 individuals and given out over 100 Naloxone kits.

One Year Milestone – Brendan

We would like to congratulate one of our much loved volunteers “Brendan” on reaching an incredible milestone of ONE WHOLE YEAR continuous sobriety from all mind altering substances

Brendan has been a huge asset to Harbour Ayrshire and the wider recovery community over the past year and has volunteered at our MOT Ayr & MOT Girvan groups, our community support vehicle and our “Buddy” system

Brendan comments; “Totally filled with gratitude for all the love and support that i’ve received. To have my family back means everything to me. Reach out, we can recover!! Thanks to all you in the office for everything you have done for me, I can’t stress enough just how big an impact yourselves & Harbour have had on my life”

Keep carrying the message Brendan and well done from all of your Harbour Team

One Year Milestone – Rab

We would like to congratulate our North Ayrshire Recovery Practitioner on recently celebrating 1 whole year of continuous sobriety

Cases like Roberts don’t come along very often so we are delighted to announce his first year anniversary away from his old lifestyle.

Starting out receiving Harbour support this time last year when he was a broken man physically and mentally. The transformation has been quite extraordinary, he has moved through the ranks as a helper to volunteer and now a full time Harbour employee working in the North using his lived experience to help people. He has already established an MOT Kilbirnie group with 12-15 people attending weekly to receive support.

From a trembling, nervous wreck of a man there’s now one of the finest examples of recovery that I have met in all my years in this field – “Eddie”

Harbour Ayrshire are extremely grateful to our funders ARIA (Ayrshire Rural & Islands Ambition Fund) and North Ayrshire Ventures Trust for funding Robert’s role
