CLEVER COOKIE!

We are really proud of one of our volunteer “Big Stevie” on his new career path

Stevie has quit his full time job and has now become business partner with his wife (Alison) in their very successful cookie business – With Love Cookies !!!

Alison was running the business on her own and was struggling to keep up with all the orders and so it made sense for this cracking couple to work alongside each other !! this gives them more time to spend with each other and they are both loving it !! It also gives Steven time to focus on his recovery and his studies

Steven volunteers in our MOT Killie Mens Group and has recently joined our Buddy System supporting men in and out of Rehab

Your Harbour Team are really proud of you Stevie and we wish you and Alison all the success in the world with your business

Welcome to our Student Placement

We are thrilled, as an organisation, to be able to facilitate a 2 week placement for a Trainee Paramedic, Aimee, with Harbour Ayrshire

Aimee is studying at University of the West of Scotland to be a paramedic and has thoroughly enjoyed her first week with us. She has attended some home, drug and alcohol interventions with our recovery practitioners and three of our peer groups – MOT Irvine, THRIVE and Empowerher so far

Aimee is now onto her second and last week with us and will continue her placement in the community with our recovery practitioners – gaining a better understanding about the disease of addiction/alcoholism which will assist her greatly in her future role

SAFEGUARDING AND BOUNDARY TRAINING

Delighted to say our staff received excellent training from Our Vicki today as she passed on her knowledge and experience with her usual aplomb. The staff will now be more confident and competent to perform their roles in the community after receiving the safeguarding and boundaries training.

First Aid for Mental Health

We would like to thank Believe Ayrshire C.I.C for a second bout of Mental Health First Aid Training for our staff and volunteers. We now have mental health first aiders in the following services;

  • Head office
  • Womens well-being group
  • empowerher womens group
  • MOT Girvan
  • MOT Kilbirnie
  • MOT Irvine
  • MOT Killie
  • THRIVE womens group
  • Harbour Helpline
  • Harbour Buddy System

Huge thanks to Harbour Lights for providing us with the venue and refreshments

Super Ally!

We would like to congratulate one of our volunteers ‘Wee Ally’ on 3 whole years continuous sobriety. Ally volunteers in our New Beginnings North Family Group and she is an incredible example. Well done Ally from all of your Harbour Team.

Congrats Candice!

It is with great pride that we announce Our Wellbeing Group Facilitator has reached a massive milestone in her recovery journey. Candice has remained drug/alcohol free for 2 years and is an amazing example of what you can achieve when you access positive support and the right time. We at Harbour Ayrshire wish you all the very best Candice Gorman

Perfect Five for Paul

We would like to wish one of our Volunteers, “Big Paul”, a Happy 5 Years continuous sobriety. Paul is Harbour’s first ever Volunteer within our organisation, he opened and facilitated our MOT Irvine Men’s Group supporting 15-18 men per week, Paul also volunteers on our “out of hours” drug and alcohol helpline and our Buddy system supporting men through our prehab and rehab service. He is a huge asset to our organisation and we are delighted to celebrate this incredible milestone in his recovery journey with him.

An EGGcellent Day!

What a cracking day yesterday for the kids at this wonderful event we held in partnership with the Fullarton Community Hub. Donna and her team along with Harbour Staff and volunteers had a brilliant day with over 80 kids throughout Ayrshire, with bouncy castles, face painters, kids entertainer, slides, food etc. As you can see from some of the pictures the kids had an absolute ball. This was all made possible through the funding we received from Cash for Kids West Scotland. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED !
